Burglars armed with screwdriver confront victims and steal cash and gold
Police are hunting burglars who threatened their victims with a screwdriver before escaping with cash and gold jewellery.
The raiders targeted the home in Barkbythorpe Road, Rushey Mead, Leicester between 8.13pm and 8.26pm on Friday, February 23.
The victims suffered some ‘minor bruising’, Leicestershire Police said. Details were released today.
Officers believe the suspects arrived in a dark Audi which was being driven by a fourth person.
The driver dropped the suspects off and then drove up and down the street before parking a few houses down from the victims’ house.
He picked the suspects up before driving off towards King Street and Queen Street.
Pc Steph Burnham said: “We know there were a number of people in the area around the time of the incident who may have seen the activity in the street, in particular two dog walkers who walked by the property when the suspects were inside and may have seen the third suspect in the dark Audi outside the address.
“If you were in this area on Friday evening and recall seeing the vehicle or the suspects then please get in touch.
“Any information you can provide may help move this investigation forward.”
