[a31]raise the roof-introo. jake rockwell says, “congratulations, you’ve been chosen.” tears– and a sigh of relief michelle anderson says, “it’s just such an honor, it’s amazing, i am in shock.” there’s no doubt a housing crisis in southern oregon. michelle has lived that struggle for a long time now wednesday night while watching newswatch 12 she found out she’ll be able to breathe easier michelle anderson says, “we were sitting on the couch together.” but with the raise the roof gift she’s feeling like she’ll be able to catch up on paying bills michelle anderson says, “unbelievable, i’ve had a lot of help from my family and friends who have seen me struggle.” one out of three renters are paying more than 50 percent of their income in rent. and many can’t hardly find a place to live michelle anderson says, “very hard, i’ve been from subsidized housing to now a pretty good home but it’s hard. there’s not really any affordable homes around.” jake with rockwell real estate says he’s reminded of the housing crisis daily– jake rockwell says, “”we get calls all the time even though we don’t really work in property management a lot of people call asking if we know of availability.” but things may be looking up “i got an email from the southern oregon renters association a couple days ago that showed the vacancy rate has gone up little bit of a leveling off.” the single mom from gold hill plans to straighten out her debt and build up her credit with the three months of paid rent. our raise the roof campaign partners
