Morii wins gold at World Para Alpine Skiing event – News – NHK WORLD
Japan’s Taiki Morii won a gold medal on the opening day of the World Para Alpine Skiing World Cup.
Morii came joint first in the men’s giant slalom sitting race category of the World Cup series, which began on Monday in Switzerland.
It’s the first win of the season for Morii, who was overall World Cup champion for the past 2 years.
Morii, 37, lost mobility in his lower body in a motorcycle accident while at high school.
Winners are calculated by multiplying finish times with a factored number for the degree of impairment. Morii tied with Norway’s Jesper Pedersen.
